About Cris Houston

 

Cris Houston, Esq. obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2004 from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2000 from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Attorney Houston is a licensed attorney (since 2005) and a mediator (since 2018) in Texas.

 

Attorney Houston's career as a professor, Legal Research and Writing Program Director, and Academic Success and Bar Preparation Program Director spans a combined total of fifteen (15) years. Attorney Houston has taught Legal Research and Writing, Appellate Advocacy, Academic Success, Bar Preparation, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Business Law, Business Leadership and Ethics, and Employment Law courses. She is an expert teacher who can make complex laws and legal matters easy to understand for her students and clients. Because teaching is a labor of love for Attorney Houston, she presently dedicates her time to ensuring the educational and career readiness of our today's youth and professionals through her work as a devoted educator. 

 

Furthermore, she has practiced law, primarily in wills and estate planning, for a total of fifteen (15) years. She takes pride in developing a good relationship with her clients, listening to the needs of her clients, and working hard to meet those needs. She gladly takes time to explain her client's legal rights to them to help them make the best legal decisions for themselves and their loved ones. Attorney Houston is committed to providing the best legal service for her clients and their loved ones.

 

Since 2018, Attorney Houston has passionately performed mediation services at every opportunity, garnering experience mediating a wide variety of cases with the objective of bolstering her mediation skills to build a successful career in mediation and other fields of ADR. The kinds of mediations that she handles include, but are not limited to, the following: family and divorce; Child Protective Services (CPS); personal injury; contract disputes; small claims; landlord/tenant; business disputes; employment; and general dispute resolution cases. Attorney Houston is interested in growing a mediation and arbitration practice in these and other areas, such as labor, real estate, and education.

 

Attorney Houston serves her community through her involvement in the Harvard Alumni Association Early College Awareness Program, Lone Star Legal Aid Pro Bono Attorney Program, Houston Volunteer Lawyers Pro Bono Attorney Program, and Trinity Baptist Church Micah 6:8 Ministry Team Member, to name a few of her community service endeavors.
